Media session 1

In Media Session 1, I took a lot of pictures and videos about the shoes I designed. I am most interested in the task of this session, because I am full of interest in photography. I think photography itself is a matter of fashion significance, and it is also one of the important media to spread information. Therefore, how to better shoot and display the works is the biggest difficulty I met when completing this assignment. My shoe design was inspired by David Hockney’s Portrait of an Artist (Pool with Two Figures) in 1972. I love the amount of color he uses in his paintings. They are saturated and give people a sense of happiness and freedom. Therefore, I used a lot of colors in the design to create a sense of color collision. In the post-shooting process, I used many materials to decorate the shoes according to this feature, such as gauze, blue masks, and many paper boats of different colors. I tried to shoot it from different angles, shoelaces, tongue, body and so on. However, it is a pity that I did not find a black background plate when shooting, so that the effect of shooting was affected to some extent, so that it was not so perfect. This is also something I need to pay attention to and reflect on: it takes more time to prepare. In the process of shooting the video, I chose a swimming pool without water as the background. I hope to pay tribute to Hockney’s works in my own way, and I can learn a lot about color from his works. In the video I was dressed in red, just like the painting shows, looking into the pool. I wish I could be a part of it. This media assignment made me realize a new way of learning to a large extent, and I like it very much. But I have to admit that I lack the ability to prepare in advance. I hope that I can make full preparations in advance for the next assignment and try to improve the quality of my work.
